MEMBER OF THE MONTH SPOTLIGHT

Congratulations to Kristie Bernard, our MEMBER OF THE MONTH! Kristies's CFCA journey has been so inspiring. Did you know that she only showed up because she was challenged by a friend? She had no intentions of sticking around but our community won her over! And we are so glad it did. Read on for a little bit more about Kristie. Congrats! #cfca4life

What’s your favorite achievement since becoming a member of CFCA?

Inside the gym, I have learned SO much. I never understood how much knowledge it takes to do weightlifting and other movements, to do them properly to be effective and not get hurt. I think the knowledge that I have gained from the coaches is my biggest achievement and will stay with me for life.

Outside the gym, I think of so many more things that I can do now. My most fav is gig rowing, being out on the water with great people including many CFCA’ers. I would have been too intimidated to have tried it before getting stronger because of CFCA.

What was your first concert?

Boston. I think I was 16. In a corvette. LOL!

What is your favorite lift?

Not necessarily any particular fav, have to say that I love barbell work in general. I NEVER thought that I would like barbell work and it is one of my most fav things to do. I bought one for my house. I had never used one before CFCA.

Favorite WOD and least favorite WOD?

Favorite is anything with a barbell. Least favorite is anything with renegade man makers.

What is your current, favorite workout song that gets you going?

Anything AC/DC, and loud. Drown out my grunting!

What thing about the CFCA Community?

THE PEOPLE!!!!! The owners, coaches, and community. I have never been a part of such a truly inclusive, supportive, and diverse group of amazing people.

What advice would you give to new members?

Just come join in for any WOD. You might think you won’t like something, but you might love it. Try everything, get modifications if you need to. One day when my knees were really bad, I asked to just lightly row and do abs. The coach gave me another option, and sat me on a block, he modified the movements to never use my knees and I got a great workout. Trust in the coaches here at CFCA to help you, they are THE BEST.
