Congratulations to Mary Dyan, our MEMBER OF THE MONTH! Ever since Mary walked through the doors at CFCA, we knew she would be the perfect addition to our community! Mary is super coachable and willing to learn. When she isn't perfecting her OHS, you can find her climbing mountains, skiing or basically anywhere outside on the North Shore. Read on for a little more about Mary below! Congratulations!
What’s your favorite achievement since becoming a member of CFCA?
Honestly, it is all so new, that my first achievement is sticking with it; but I am proud of having done one Rx workout (yes, it was the running one, but still!) and 4 unbroken double unders.
What was your first concert?
Paul Simon in Central Park in 1991. Yup, I am that old. I actually got to see his final concert in Queens in 2018.
What is your favorite lift?
Probably deadlift but could see the bench press taking over.
Favorite WOD and least favorite WOD?
Favorite = Any AMRAP! Least favorite = Is OHS a WOD or is it a lift? Either way, it's a tough one for me but I look forward to getting better at it.
What is your current, favorite workout song that gets you going?
Favorite may not be the right word, but "The Business" is absolutely the song I associate with CFCA.
(You can thank Coach Jill for that!)
What thing about the CFCA Community?
So unbelievably welcoming. I joined during such a time of transition, and so many have known each other for many years, but was made to feel like part of the CFCA community instantly.
What advice would you give to new members?
Don't come in expecting to be good at everything. Listen to your coaches, watch the veterans, there is always something new to try and new to learn. Embrace the challenge!
