July’s Members of the Month are a duo we're lucky to have at CFCA. Brett has been part of our community for years, bringing the same athleticism and competitive spirit that made him a standout hockey player at perennial powerhouse Reading High School. More recently, Joan has become a wonderful addition to the gym, fitting right in with her positive attitude and consistency. A talented swimmer in her day, Joan proves that an athletic mindset never fades.
Together, this mother-and-son duo bring energy, encouragement, and plenty of laughs to every class, especially the 8 AM class. We're excited to recognize them as our Members of the Month and celebrate the positive impact they have on our community. Congrats!

1. Occupation
Brett: Biotechnology consultant
Joan: Owner/President - ABC Home & Healthcare Professionals
2. What's your favorite achievement since joining CFCA?
Brett: Getting my mother to join
Joan: Seeing how much my lifts have improved over time. Looking back at the weights I can lift now compared to when I started is really rewarding.
3. What would your walk up song be?
Brett: Levels by Avicii
Joan: She's a Bad Mama Jama
4. Favorite Lift or WOD?
Brett: Murph
Joan: I actually enjoy all the lifts because they work different muscle groups and challenge me in different ways. I also like having to think through all the coaches helpful cues—and maybe someday I'll remember which lift is which without having to bug Brett!
5. Least Favorite Lift or WOD?
Brett: Chad
Joan: Anything with Burpee's
6. What's the one item you can't live without?
Brett: My watch
Joan: My family - although that's not an actual item...
7. Best part of working out as a family?
Brett: Hearing all the questions she asks during the class
Joan: Brett is definitely the more motivated one, so having him there makes it a lot harder for me to skip a workout. Having that built-in accountability is the best part.
8. Who is the better athlete?
Brett: 100 percent her. LOL.
Joan: Brett - but science says you do inherit your athleticism from your mom - so I will take the credit!
