If you've spent any time at CFCA, you know Barbara - our October Member of the Month! A former Conant Spirit Award winner, she's the definition of positivity and grit. When she's not off sailing the Caribbean all winter long, Barbara's here moving strong, cheering others on, and lighting up the gym with her trademark smile and laugh. A true ray of sunshine and an inspiration to us all!
Congratulations, Barbara! You are the true meaning of #cfca4life!

What’s your favorite achievement since joining CFCA?
Honestly, I was beside myself when I accomplished the rope climb several years ago. I wasn’t able to accomplish it this season (yet) but I bask in the thrill of having done it to the ceiling last year. (See photo above)
What would be your walk up song?
I depend of the collective wisdom of the CFCA athletes to provide great workout music.
Favorite lift?
The “Clean and jerk” because even when I use light weight it makes me feel fit, strong and in charge.
Favorite/Least favorite WOD?
Favorite WOD - No name but I love interval training with strength training and cardio combined.
Least fave: Anything involving burpees. I just love a pulling myself up from a push-up and going right into a squat jump - Ugh! I know this means I should always do burpees - Ugh!
What is one item you can’t live without?
1st - My backpack bag - it holds everything and I’m hands free!
2nd - My water bottle. It gives me a little break during the WOD when I need it most. If I have to say just one item, I’ll put my water bottle in my backpack and go with my #1.
What is next on your bucket list?
I want to visit Alaska and the Galapagos Islands, both have amazing biological and geographic diversity that I would love to experience in this lifetime.
What is your favorite part about being a member at CFCA?
Fist bumping = It is such a joy to workout with others. And dinner after Ladies Night with my sweaty, salty teammates.
What advice would you give new members?
Keep coming - you’ll have a chance to experience getting and/or staying healthy, strong and fit in a fun and friendly way with an amazing amount of support from the coaches and the other athletes.
